About Us

We are a group of women who have become lifelong friends through one common denominator: hiking.
So, when things seem tough and we need to get away, we just say, “Gotta hike my friend.”

Becky Chasteen is a force to be reckoned with when she is on the trail. This mother of three and grandmother of five began running at age 45, completing two marathons, seven half-marathons, and numerous 5Ks and 10Ks. She turned to hiking and biking later in life conquering the Grand Canyon Rim2Rim, the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon twice and biking a 30-mile Bike Fondo through the mountains of Arkansas and Missouri. Born in Missouri, Becky has been married to her high school sweetheart John for 47 years. Together, they have pastored three churches for more than 22 years. This lover of God, family and country would like to hike every U.S. National Park. She might just do that with a new found love for RVing.

Sherry Kast sought work-life balance for years and finally found it through hiking. She needed something extreme that would challenge her to work out. The first event Sherry participated in was none other than a charity hike called the Xtreme Hike with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She found balance by combining two loves: being among God’s nature and hiking for charity. Known to hold up the hiking gang from time to time by taking photographs, she can’t help but take her cell phone, Cannon and GoPro with her on the trail. To keep up with friends on the trail, Sherry has to work out twice as hard but the rewards are amazing. She may not be the fastest but she can go the distance. Sherry’s a public relations practitioner by day and a publisher in her spare time.

Cheryl Moreno never quits and she never gives up. She is a natural-born leader and competitor who always brings high energy with her on the trail. When the group feels like giving up, we rely on Cheryl for motivation. On the trail, she shares lessons learned from the many leadership books she has read. Before you know it, we are in thought-provoking conversations that help us break through that mental wall. Plus, she has adapted many team building games for the trail to keep our minds occupied, our energy up and our focus on finishing another adventure. Born in West Virginia, this Mountaineer loves everything extreme and adventurous. She is one of the top leadership development experts in the country.

Michelle Turner is an accomplished traveler, having stepped foot in all 50 states, 17 countries and four continents. She is a self-proclaimed seasonal hiker who doesn’t do heat and would rather eat ice cream. When you are on the trail with Michelle, time passes quickly as she is a gifted talker sharing about so many of her traveling adventures. Her dog Harris, a Scottish terrier, often joins her on the trail. Outside of hiking, Michelle is a creative doodler, painter and calligrapher. She has never been big on housekeeping, but she is a party looking for a place to happen. During her college years she was known as Chelle, Mitch and Maurice.

Kathy Hefton is a work out queen. Her best friend is the stair climber and she’s a maniac when it comes to climbing. While most of us may struggle climbing uphill, Kathy can literally climb all day long. Kathy is the one who keeps track of our training, logging our adventures for us on her app. She also makes sure we are hydrated and reminds us to eat to keep our energy up. Love’s to ski and is a top-notch marketing guru.
